The Zapata County Fire Department and Ambulance Service responds to all fire and medical emergencies as well as to hazardous material spills.
The Emergency Management Coordinator activates all systems and personnel to deal with catastrophic natural distress affecting Zapata County. The coordinator also serves as Zapata County Fire Marshal.
MISSION STATEMENT
The primary mission of the department is to provide emergency services within the County of Zapata and to respond to other incidents as required; the protection of life within Zapata County, and to establish a public safety education program for the children and elderly residents of Zapata County while working in conjunction with other county departments to provide a better place for the residents of Zapata County.
