Ector County does not maintain public roads that are not part of the Ector County road system. FM and State Highways are maintained by Texas Department of transportation (TxDOT). Other roads are maintained (repaired) by the corresponding municipalities; (i.e., The City Of Odessa) except for private roads.

About Us


The Ector County Public Works Department is responsible for maintenance approximately 552 miles of paved roadway and 33 miles of caliche/unpaved roadway. Our core services and divisions are: Road Maintenance Section, Traffic Operations Section, Engineering Section, Airport Maintenance Section, Equipment Services Section, and Parks.

Our Vision: Committed to excellence by being the department of innovation and quality road maintenance services.

Our Mission: Provides an effective, systematic approach to the care and maintenance of Ector County roads, fleet, parks, and airport as well as provide services and support to communities and agencies in the County. Traffic Operations/Airport/
Parks Section

¨Installing and maintaining traffic signage in compliance with the T.M.U.T.C.D.

¨Striping center lines and edge lines of roadway, and parking lots of all county business buildings

¨Entering and reviewing crash reports in compliance with TxDOT CRIS User Application.

¨Developing and reviewing TCP in compliance with T.M.U.T.C.D. during roadwork and all third-party work on our R.O.W.
