REQUESTING
A TRANSCRIPT
Email Jordana
Hodges, the official Court Reporter of the 244th District Court or
call the office at 432-498-4240 with the cause number, style of the case, and
the date of hearing.
REQUESTING A HEARING FOR CIVIL MATTERS
Please
note, this is ONLY a courtesy procedure; the Court can,
at any time, schedule a hearing at the Courts discretion and availability.
- E-file a motion (or request) and a proposed blank order setting hearing 1st. Please make sure to include the approximate time needed to requested for the hearing. (This process is the same for Bench Trial request as well.)
- Email Chaka
Quiller, the Court Coordinator, with all parties copied on the email that you would like to receive possible dates for a hearing.
- The Coordinator
will then “reply all” with ONLY three (3) available dates and times.
- DO NOT copy the
Coordinator in any discussions of which date is best.
- When all
parties agree to a date/time, email the Court Coordinator,
with the agreed date and time. Make sure you copy all parties on the email with the agreed
setting.
- Additional
dates will NOT be provided so if the parties cannot agree to one of the
three dates provided by the Coordinator, EFILE your proposed Order Setting
Hearing leaving the date/time blank for the Court to fill in.
PLEASE
NOTE: The court does not accept ‘Notices of Hearings’. The Court does not hold
zoom or telephonic hearings. NO EXCEPTIONS.
REQUESTING
A CONTINUANCE OR RE-SETTING A HEARING
For
Civil matters:
- A hearing will
not be continued without a timely and properly filed Motion for
Continuance that complies with Article 254-254, & 330(c)(d) of
the Texas Rules of Civil Procedure.
- Prior to
contacting the Court, both parties must confer with each other in order to
avoid unnecessary court time.
- If both parties
are in agreement, please file your agreed motion and submit an agreed
order for the Judge’s approval.
- Motion for
Continuance’s must be numbered. For example, if it is the third Motion for
Continuance filed into the case, it will be titled “3rd Agreed
Motion for Continuance”.
- The proposed
Order must indicate what it is you are requesting a continuance for. Your
proposed Order must also have a space for the new date/time of the
hearing.
For
Criminal matters:
- A hearing will
not be continued without a timely and properly filed Motion for
Continuance that complies with Chapter 29 of the Texas Code of
Criminal Procedure.
- Your proposed
Order must indicate what type of hearing you are requesting a continuance
for.
- Your proposed
Order must have a space for the new date/time of the hearing for the Court
to fill in.
