Sheriff Mike Griffis
Sheriff Mike Griffis was born and raised in Odessa. Mike has two grown daughters and four perfect grandsons. He attended Permian High School.
Mike worked for a local oilfield supply store right after high school, and in 1988 decided to attend the Odessa College Law Enforcement Academy. He attended the academy at night and continued to work full time as he completed the academy.
In May 1989 Mike joined the Ector County Sheriff's Office, volunteering his time as a reserve deputy. Mike worked in many area as a reserve, including the jail, patrol, and narcotics.
Mike ran for Constable Pct. 1, won the election, and was sworn into that office January 1, 1993.
Mike resigned his Constable Office and became a full time member of the Ector County Sheriff's Office in May 1995, under Sheriff Bob Brookshire.
Mike was initially assigned to patrol and worked his way up through the ranks as an investigator, patrol Sgt., and patrol Lieutenant and has over 1200 hours of law enforcement training.
On October 1, 2015, Mike was promoted to Inspector by Sheriff Mark Donaldson.
Mike is a member of the Odessa Rotary Club, board member of Project Lifesaver, board member of Ector County Children's Services Board.
Mike is proud to serve the citizens of Ector County as he has done for the last 27 years and looks forward to many more years of service.

Chief Deputy Eddie Mancha
Eddie Mancha was born and raised in Midland, Texas. He graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1986.
His law enforcement career began in 1990 with the Midland County Sheriff's Office, working as a jailer.
Eddie moved over to the Ector County Sheriff's Office in 1998, continuing his career as a jailer for 2 1/2 years.
He then moved to patrol. Eddie also served in the Warrant Division and CID.
Eddie was promoted to the position of Sergeant in Patrol in 2009, and in 2013 became a Lieutenant.
He was transferred to Lieutenant over Support Services, overseeing dispatch, Civil/Warrants, Mental Health, Emergency Management, Animal Control, Courthouse Security, and Records.
Sheriff Mike Griffis promoted Eddie Mancha to the position of Major in 2017 and Chief Deputy in 2019. He is now second in command.

Captain Tony Bass
Captain Tony Bass joined the Ector County Sheriff's Office as a Deputy assigned patrol division in 2003. Through his career at the Sheriff's Office he has held the positions of Criminal Investigator, Sergeant assigned to the FBI Oilfield Theft Task Force, Criminal Investigations Division Lieutenant to his present position as Captain of the Crime Control Bureau. Captain Bass was promoted to the rank of Captain in 2019. Captain Bass is a graduate of the 280th Session of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia.
Captain Bass has over 17 years of law enforcement experience and holds an Advanced Peace Officer’s License.

Captain James McKinney
Captain McKinney was born and raised in Odessa, Texas. James is a happily married man with three wonderful step-kids and two beautiful grandkids. James attended and graduated from Odessa High School in 1990.
Captain McKinney started his career with the Sheriff's Office in 1997. He has worked as a jailor promoting from Corporal, Sergeant, Master Sergeant, and finally Lieutenant on 01-01-2019.
On 6-23-2022. James was promoted to Jail Administrator.
Captain McKinney is the first (Non-Peace Officer) to hold this position for Ector County.
Captain McKinney has 25 years of Jail experience and does not plan on leaving anytime soon.
