The Fire Marshal's office will now accept all Fire Marshal permit fees. All fees paid to the Fire Marshal office are non-refundable. Call Carl Fowner, Fire Marshal, or Wendy Grant, Admin. Asst.,  at 830-393-8641 in advance to discuss permit fees.

WILSON COUNTY BURN BAN IS IN EFFECT BEGINNING TUESDAY, JAN. 27!
Burn barrels are allowed following these safety guidelines:
-choose a location away from trees, powerlines, or structures
-placed metal barrel on bricks, gravel, or dirt
-cover with a metal screen with 1/4 inch openings to prevent flying embers
-equally space three vents to create a hotter fire with less smoke
-NEVER LEAVE FIRE UNATTENDED
-have water available

 

Per the Wilson County Fire Marshal and Commissioners, Wilson County will allow agricultural burns ONLY.

Agricultural burns are for the clearing and planting of crops.

If you choose to burn for agricultural purposes, please ensure you follow all Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) outdoor burning rules, including:

• Burn only natural vegetation (no trash, construction materials, or household waste)

• Maintain constant supervision of the fire

• Keep water, tools, or equipment available to control the fire

• Do not burn during high winds or unsafe conditions

• Extinguish the fire completely before leaving the area

Even though conditions have improved, fire risk can still change quickly, so please burn responsibly and with caution.
