2023 TNT Postcard Mailing
Wilson County Property owners should be receiving their Truth-In-Taxation postcard notice for 2023. Pursuant to Texas Property Tax Code "Truth-In-Taxation" requirements added by Senate Bill 2 in 2019, the Wilson County Appraisal District (WCAD) will be mailing postcards in early August.
The postcard guides property owners to the official website wilson.countytaxrates.com which serves as the local property tax database site, in which property owners can easily access information regarding property tax rates and provide feedback to their local taxing units.
Information will be regularly updated in this local tax database during August and September as local taxing units propose and adopt the property tax rates.
Senate Bill 2, under Texas Tax Reform and Transparency Act, requires the Chief Appraiser of each Appraisal District to create and maintain a property tax database that:
• Contains information that is provided by taxing units located in the appraisal district, such as cities, school districts, county and emergency service districts;
• Is continuously updated as preliminary and revised data becomes available and is provided by the taxing units;
• Is accessible to the public;
• Is searchable by property address and owner per Texas Tax Code §26.17(a)
The postcard is required to provide the website for the database and the name, address and telephone number of the County Tax Assessor-Collector
Please continue to check the website for updates throughout the tax rate adoption process in August and September.
