Marriage Licenses - For applying for marriage and for searching and/or obtaining a certified copy of Leon County marriage licenses.
Cattle Marks and Brands Registration - In accordance with Article 144.044 of the Agriculture Code, the marks and brands that have been previously recorded will expire on August 30, 2021. The owner of the brand will have from August 31, 2021 until February 28, 2022, to renew their mark or brand. On March 1, 2022, all marks and brands that have not been renewed will have no force or effect and will be available for use on a “first-come” basis. Renewals will begin August 31, 2021, with the Leon County Clerk, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at 155 North Cass St. 1st floor, Centerville, Texas 75833. Get a Birth or Death Certificate -(Birth Certificates within the State of Texas, Death Certificates for Leon Co. only.) Senate Bill 200, Article 5 amended Section 191.0031 of the Texas Health and Safety Code (HSC) to state that the state registrar or a local registrar may NOT issue a certified copy of a record to a person who has applied for the record by mail unless the person has provided notarized proof of identity. In accordance with HSC §191.0031, form VS-142.3 has been amended to require applicants provide a notarized proof of identity. The application also includes form VS-142.3(a), which is the affidavit form. What type of ID may I use to obtain a birth or death certificate?

- We welcome the public! Anyone may research our indices and images for the most up-to-date information. We will show you how to use the indices, and you may perform your own searches.
- Our deed and official records also are online at www.texaslandrecords.com If you have questions about the website, call the helpline at 866-211-1802.
- There are 8 public search stations in our office. Deed and Official Records (1828-forward), Probate (1848-forward), Criminal (1995-forward), Plats, and Marriage Records (1885-forward) are available on these stations as well. Follow the instructions above the monitors.
- We are not attorneys, and cannot give any legal advice. We cannot answer any questions about what may or may not need to be filed. We are not qualified to determine ownership of any surface or mineral rights, or perform searches for any liens.
- Also, per AG Opinion WW-607, the County Clerk has no duty to search the records under his control and guarantee the correctness thereof.
- Documents received after 4 p.m. will be recorded the next business day.
- The large Tobin maps and all images on the public stations are proprietary; photography of these images is prohibited.
- Removal of any document, page or volume from our office is a state jail felony (Penal Code, Title 7 Chapter 32, Subchapter D, Sec. 32.47), and our offices are under camera surveillance.
- We are not responsible for any articles, belongings or computers left unattended in our office. Please take all belongings with you when you leave.
