Cattle Brand Registration - Here is the form for the upcoming brand registration. You must register cattle brands IN PERSON. We cannot register brands through the mail or by fax.  Click here to search cattle brands.

Cattle Marks and Brands Registration - In accordance with Article 144.044 of the Agriculture Code, the marks and brands that have been previously recorded will expire on August 30, 2021. The owner of the brand will have from August 31, 2021 until February 28, 2022, to renew their mark or brand. On March 1, 2022, all marks and brands that have not been renewed will have no force or effect and will be available for use on a “first-come” basis.     Renewals will begin August 31, 2021, with the Leon County Clerk, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at 155 North Cass St. 1^st floor, Centerville, Texas 75833. The recording fee for a mark or brand is $16 for first site, $5 for each additional site.

What:

• All brands must be re-registered every 10 years
• New brands can be registered at anytime

When:

• Re-registration after August 30, 2021 – March 1, 2022
• A person who does not re-register their brand during this 6-month period, forfeits legal right to that brand

Where:

• The brand location is as important as the brand itself
• The same brand can be registered in the same county BUT requires a different location

Similar:

• If a brand request is currently registered or is similar to a current brand – The Clerk has the authority to refuse the new brand registration

Transfer:

• Brand may be transferred with notarized affidavit from current owner relinquishing title or court order from probate court

Fee:

• The clerk can charge the same fee for this procedure as registering a new brand
