All restitution and fee payments must be made by CASHIERS CHECK or MONEY ORDER, made payable to the "HUNT COUNTY ATTORNEY".

The Hunt County Attorney's Office only handles checks that have been referred to our office for criminal prosecution.  This is a free service provided to local merchants.  The maximum misdemeanor penalty for Theft by Check is up to a $4,000.00 fine and/or one year in county jail.  Additionally, failure to timely resolve your bad check could lead to the filing of a criminal case.  This would subject you to arrest and a mandatory appearance in court until your case is disposed.
