    Did you know that as your County Clerk - I oversee and serve as the Clerk of the Court for Hunt County Commissioner's Court, County Court at Law #1 & #2 and Constitutional County Courts. I also serve as Secretary to the Hunt County Juvenile Board. I am a member and board elected Secretary to the Hunt County Bail Bond Board. I hold membership in the Texas County and District Clerk's Association as well as the Lake Tawakoni Chamber of Commerce.

    Did you know that all County Clerk's in the State of Texas are required to attend Continuing Education Courses - Government Code 51.605 requires a clerk to complete 20 hours of instruction regarding the performance of the clerk's duties of office during each calendar year that begins after the clerk's election or appointment to office.

    Did you know that the Hunt County Clerk's office offers Property Fraud alert that monitors the public records - The Hunt County Clerk's office has collaborated with Fidlar Technologies to create a notification service for the property owners of Hunt County. What is property fraud? When someone illegally uses your property for financial gain. How does this happen? Someone records a fraudulent document in the county land records, making it look like they own your property.     Did you know that the Hunt County Clerk's office is responsible for Posting public meetings and Foreclosure Notices - Trustee sales are conducted on the 1st Tuesday of the month in the common area of the 2nd floor of the Courthouse or the base of the North steps outside of the courthouse, located at 2507 Lee Street in downtown Greenville Texas. The clerk's office is responsible for posting these notices as we receive them. The notices are posted on the bulletin board, 1st floor of the Courthouse and on the County Clerk's page under Foreclosures > Sale Notice. https://www.huntcounty.net/page/hunt.trustees

    Did you know that as clerk of the court for the Commissioner's Court, the Hunt County Clerk's office creates, maintains and archives the minutes from each meeting - Commissioner's Court is held on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 10:00 a.m., excluding holidays or other factors, with Special Session meetings as needed. The court is located in the Auxiliary courtroom, 2700 Johnson St., near downtown Greenville or to stream the meeting, follow the "Commissioners Court Live Stream" hyperlink on the county's website: huntcounty.net. The purpose of this court is to make county policies, oversee the budget and enter into contracts with outside vendors. The County Clerk's office creates the Minutes and archives the records for public view. These records can be found at https://apps.huntcounty.net/minutes/

    The office of County Clerk has been in existence in Texas since 1836, superseding the “escribano” of Spanish-Mexican rule.  The Texas Constitution, Section 20, Article 5 provides:

    “There shall be elected for each county, by qualified voters, a County Clerk, who shall hold his office for four years, who shall be clerk of the County and Commissioners Courts and recorder of the county, whose duties, perquisites and fees of office shall be prescribed by the Legislature and a vacancy in whose office shall be filled by the County Commissioners Court until the next general election; provided that in counties having a population of less than 8,000 there may be an election of a single Clerk who shall perform the duties of District and County Clerks.”

    The county clerk is the record keeper and Registrar for the county, Commissioners Court, County Court and County Courts at Law.

    Duties of the County Clerk include recording and filing instruments that prove ownership or interest in real property, instruments concerning the identity of persons and commercial activities; misdemeanor criminal cases; civil cases from $500 to $250,000 depending on jurisdictional limits set by statute; probate court; data collection for reporting to several state and local agencies including the County Auditor, County Treasurer, Voter Registrar, Bureau of Vital Statistics, Department of Public Safety, Attorney General, Supreme Court of Texas and Office of Court Administration.

    Additional duties include: recording cattle brands, determining wet or dry liquor status for alcoholic beverage sale applications, elections where there is no designated elections administrator, records management, filing retired Notary records, Bail Bond Board member, Clerk for Juvenile Board, and Clerk for the Commissioner’s Court.
