GENERAL INFORMATION

The County Clerk serves as Clerk of the Court for Tyler County Court.  This court hears issues associated with the estates of deceased persons, guardianships for incapacitated persons and mental health commitments.  The Clerk's Probate Division issues citations, writs of execution, abstract of judgment, letters of guardianship, letters testamentary, notices, and other documents as required by law or requested by customers.

To schedule a case on the docket, please contact the Tyler County Judge (409) 283-2141.

Probate cases are always initiated by the filing of an application with the County Clerk.  This is done on behalf of an applicant by an attorney.  Small Estate Affidavits may be filed without an Attorney and essential requirements are listed on texaslawhelp.org under Small Estate Affidavit.

Effective June 1, 2018 each guardianship in Texas must be registered by the Judicial Branch Certification Commission (JBCC).  Please visit https://www.txcourts.gov/jbcc/register-a-guardianship/ for further instructions.
