What is a County Auditor?

The county auditor countersigns all warrants on the county treasury, examines the treasurer's reports and all claims against the county, advertises for bids on county supplies, and exercises general oversight over the financial books and records of the county.

What Does The County Auditor Do in Tyler County?

• Appointed by the district judge(s)
• Prepares and administers accounting records for all county funds
• Audits the records and accounts of the various county departments
• Verifies the validity and legality of all county disbursements
• Forecasts financial data for budgetary formulation purposes
• Prepares Payroll
• Serves as  the Human Resources Department
• Accounts Payable/Receivable

BIO:

Jackie Skinner and her husband Wade have been residents of Colmesneil for over 30 years. They are proud to have lived, worked and raised their family in Tyler County and cannot imagine life anywhere else. Mrs. Skinner has two sons, Josh and Jake. Both boys are married - Josh to Caitlyn and Jake to Emilea. Mrs. Skinner loves and adores all of her family, but has found a special love for her three grandsons, Brazos, Derral, and C.J.  She is known for her dedication to her family, friends and church. Mrs. Skinner supports her community by supporting various youth programs and volunteering on the Tyler County Child Welfare Board.

Jackie was appointed Tyler County Auditor in 2010, after working for the County in various offices and in different capacities. This prior experience in County Government gave Mrs. Skinner the knowledge and skills to be an efficient and effective auditor. Her goal as Auditor is to create transparency within county government that the citizens of Tyler County can trust and feel confident in.
