The Matagorda County 2022 Hazard Mitigation Draft Plan is ready for review by the public.

Communities must have a plan to apply for or receive hazard mitigation assistance. The plans needs to be updated every 5 years to ensure identified hazards and solutions are current. The plan also helps to identify new mitigation projects. The purpose of mitigation planning is to identify policies and actions that can be implemented over the long term to reduce risk and future losses. Mitigation Plans form the foundation for a community's long-term strategy to reduce disaster losses and break the cycle of disaster damage, reconstruction, and repeated damage.

A copy of the plan can be reviewed in the Matagorda County Environmental Health Department at 2200 7th Street, 1st Floor in Bay City.
