The National Weather Service has issued a Fire Danger Statement for Atascosa, Bastrop, Bexar, Blanco, Burnet, Caldwell, Comal, De Witt, Dimmitt, Edwards, Fayette, Frio, Gillespie, Gonzales, Guadalupe, Hays, Karnes, Kendall, Lavaca, Lee, Llano, Maverick, Medina, Real, Travis, Uvalde, Val Verde, Williamson, Wilson and Zavala Counties.
What it means: Critical fire weather conditions are expected. Exercise care when doing activities that could spark wildfires. Avoid using welding/grinding equipment in or near dry brush. Avoid parking vehicles in tall weeds or grass and don't toss cigarette butts onto the ground.

An arctic airmass will arrive to the area Thursday morning into the afternoon bringing a prolonged period of freezing temperatures to the area. Lows Friday morning will be in the 10-20 degree range. Highs Friday will remain at or below freezing for a large portion of the area. In addition, windy conditions behind the front will lead to wind chill values between -8 and 11 degrees across the area. Now is the time to continue take precautions and protect your home, plants, pets, and people from the cold.
