  • To serve the people of Texas and execute the duties of my office with integrity, fairness, compassion and respect within the boundaries of the law, and to ensure that justice is done in all matters brought before the court.
  • Judge David Sotelo was elected to the office of Justice of the Peace for Precinct 4, in Karnes County, Texas in July 2012 and sworn to office on January 1, 2013. He was re-elected in November 2014 and sworn to office on January 1, 2015 to serve a 4-year term.

    Judge Sotelo was born and raised in Kenedy, Texas. He is a graduate of Kenedy High School, and attended and received his Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Development from the University of the Incarnate Word. He is also a member of the Chamber of Commerce in Runge, and attends the Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Kenedy.

    In his leisure time, he enjoys traveling, and spending time with family and friends.

    Judge Sotelo is committed to serving the community, and strives to provide excellent customer service.

  • The Justice Court, Precinct 4 accepts money orders or cashier’s checks, payable to Karnes County Justice Court, Precinct 4.

    NO CASH OR PERSONAL CHECKS ACCEPTED.

    You must pay fines and costs in full if you choose to use a credit card or debit card. To make an online credit card or debit card payment you will need your case number and your fine amount. Please call court for case number and fine amount.

    There is a nominal fee for using this service. Please contact the court to confirm your online payment has been received.


    Requests will not be considered over the phone. If you wish to make a request of the court, please place what you are needing in writing and mail or fax it to the court.

  • If you are younger than 17 years of age or if you received a citation prior to your 17th birthday or you are under the age of 18 and charged with an alcohol or tobacco related offense, you must appear before the court with a parent, guardian or managing conservator. A plea must be entered in open court before the Judge.  Please contact the court to make an appointment. The number is 830-239-4459.

  • The Justice Court has jurisdiction over all “class C” misdemeanors – fineable offenses only, truancy cases, civil law suits up to $10,000, evictions, acting coroner for all unattended deaths, and witness to wedding contracts.
