Attorney General Opinion WW-607 (1959) Summary states: “The County Clerk has no duty to search the records under his control and guarantee the correctness thereof.”


RE: MARK AND BRAND RENEWAL
Texas Agricultural Code 144.044

The re-registration period for marks/brands on cattle, horses, etc. begins August 31, 2021 and ends February 28, 2022.  A person who does not renew their brand/mark during this period forfeits their legal right to that brand/mark.   You must re-register your brand/mark in person at the Cass County Clerk’s office in the historic courthouse, 100 E. Houston Street, Linden, Texas. The fee is $26 plus $5 per each additional location. The same brand may be registered in the same county as long as the location on the animal is different. 

OFFICE HOURS (this office closes during the noon hour Monday thru Thursday)
Monday – Thursday 8 a.m. to  12 noon   1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.  No marriage license issued after 4 p.m.

Friday 8 a.m. -3:30 p.m.    No marriage license issued after 3 p.m.

When searching records by book and page number, you must enter 5 digits for the book number.For example; Vol 123 must be entered as 00123
