Assistant Auditor – Accounts Payable

Position Summary

The position of Accounts Payable Purchasing Assistant reports to the County Auditor and performs activities related to the accurate processing of authorized invoices; assists in performing audits of County offices; and other administrative services.

Essential Functions

• Maintains financial information, files and records (e.g. copies of paid invoices, checks, documentation, reimbursements, reports, vendor files, receipts, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of documentation and compliance with established policies and regulatory guidelines.
• Monitors budget balances and related financial activity to ensure sufficient funds are available prior to making payment.
• Assists in performing periodic cash counts in all fee collecting offices.
• Assists in performing inventory audits of all County offices.
• Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the department.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of and ability to use Microsoft Office
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Ability to perform duties with speed and accuracy without constant supervision
• Ability to follow instructions and complete assignments
• Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with public and County departments

Minimum Qualifications

• High School diploma or G.E. D.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in accounts payable
• Must possess a valid Texas driver’s license

Work/Physical Factors

• Must be able to turn and sit up to 8-hours daily; walk and stand up to 8-hours daily; lift and carry up to 25-pounds.

Position Summary

Operate graders, trucks and other light and heavy equipment in the repair and maintenance of county roads and bridges. Working knowledge of truck driving, general maintenance of equipment, and light and/or heavy equipment operation experience is preferred.
