Purpose & Duties

The purpose of the San Patricio County Veterans Services Office is to assist Veterans and their survivors deal with the often confusing and overwhelming task of filing claims for federal benefits through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Our Veteran Service Officers are credentialed through the Texas Veterans Commission and attend mandatory training events to stay informed on continually changing laws and regulations pertaining to Veterans. 

 

 

 

Office Location & Hours

We are by appointment only Monday – Thursday, 8am – 4:30pm. Fridays are reserved for walk-ins, 8am – 4:30pm.Closed for lunch every day, 12pm - 1pm. Call to schedule your appointment.

Information Available:

Required Documents:

  • DD214, showing Honorable, General Under Honorable, or Uncharacterized Discharge
  • Valid Identification such as TX Driver’s License, TX I.D. or Military I.D.
  • Social Security Card
  • Current mortgage statements, rent receipts or copy of lease agreement
  • Current utility bills
  • Voter registration (to prove San Patricio County residency)
  • Proof of income for the last 60 days for all household members, including but not limited to check stubs, letter from employer, Social Security, SSI and VA, unemployment, or worker’s compensation, etc.
  • If disabled and under doctor’s care, you must provide a current medical record and prescription
  • Additional documents may be requested at time of application

This program was made possible by a grant from the Texas Veterans Commission Fund for Veterans' Assistance Program. The Fund for Veterans' Assistance provides grants to organizations serving veterans and their families.

Veterans Assistance Grant Program

San Patricio County has received a grant from the Texas Veterans Commission Fund for Veterans’ Assistance. The program provides financial assistance to eligible San Patricio County veterans, dependents, and surviving spouses. Eligibility guidelines have been established using specific income brackets and other criteria to determine the need for financial assistance. Financial assistance includes rent, mortgage, utilities (water, gas, electric), transportation ride, transportation beneficiary vehicle, assistive technology, and food.

 

Application Process

To Apply, please visit the San Patricio County Veterans Service Office.

Initial eligibility can be determined by phone or walk-in at the Veterans Service Office. If you meet the minimum eligibility requirements, you will then be referred for final determination of eligibility. Final approval may take upward of 7-10 days. ALL payments are made directly to vendors.
