City Hall
--Our City Hall building was severely damaged. We are without internet and phone services.
Solid Waste Containers
-J. V. Steele is making solid waste containers available at the City Park on Vandenberge. Refrigerators, air conditioners, and washers/dryers will be accepted provided one pulls up to the curb for drop-off. They must be separated from each other and they must be separated from brush.
Boil Water Notice
--Austwell remains under a water boil until test results come back.
Water Bills
--For this month, September, the water bills for each household will be $66.06. There are no late fees being collected and there will be no cut-offs.
County Wide Curfew/Looting
--Curfew for Refugio County has been lifted. There remains zero tolerance for looting. Looters will be charged with felonies.
Electricity
--AEP continues to repair lines and poles feeding Austwell.
--If there is a problem with the service line coming in to your house, you will need to hire an electrician to do these repairs. Please make sure your property will be safe should the electricity come on.
--Please be extra cautious around downed electric lines.
--Please report downed power lines and other safety hazards like broken poles to AEPTexas.com or by calling (866) 223-8508.
Debris Clean Up
--Debris removal WILL take place. As soon as word reaches us as to WHEN, notice will be sent to everyone. In the meantime, continue to place trees and limbs curbside away from power lines, and hydrants. Large trucks cannot get under lines to pick up debris. Separate debris piles into metal, other building materials, and trees/vegetation.
American Red Cross Shelter
--American Red Cross shelter at Refugio County Fairgrounds is available for Refugio County residents needing shelter, food, and/or medical attention.
Supplies
--The community center in Austwell has a POD unit for all of Refugio County to pick up food and water.
Bee Removal
--Call Paul Hamilton for assistance in removal of bee swarms at 361-549-1084.
