About the Office
The county attorney represents the state in misdemeanor criminal cases in county court. The attorney works with law enforcement officers in the investigation and preparation of cases to be heard before the county court. Other duties include prosecution of juvenile offenders, representation of victims of violence in protective orders and of financial abuses.
The county attorney typically provides legal advice to the county commissioners court and other elected officials. In case of legal technicality or conflict of interest, the attorney makes sure they do not violate the Texas Government Codes.
