CATTLE MARKS & BRANDS

 

Since 1981, Title 6, Chapter 144 of the TEXAS AGRICULTURE CODE, requires a brand or mark to be registered every ten years.

Marks, Brands and Tattoos currently registered with the Brown County Clerk will expire on August 30, 2021.  The renewal period for your Marks/Brands/Tattoos is August 31, 2021 through February 28, 2022.  Any previously recorded Marks/Brands/Tattoos which have not been re-registered by the deadline of February 28, 2022 will be considered unclaimed and eligible for registration on a first come first serve basis.  Cattle brands are filed with the County Clerk and submitted to the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association.  The fee, to register a brand/mark/tattoo, in Brown County, is $25.00 and includes one brand location on one animal.  It is $5.00 for an additional brand/mark/tattoo on the same animal.  Brand applications are filed in the Official Public Records.  

The Application form may be filed in person, at the county clerk’s office, or mailed to Brown County Clerk, 200 South Broadway, Ste 101, Brownwood, TX  76801.  All Applications must have the signatures notarized.  For more information, call the Brown County clerk’s office at 325-643-2594.
