STATEMENT ON COVID-19

The Governor’s Office has recently declared a State of Disaster for all Texas Counties in response to COVID-19. In light of such declaration Lamar County Officials will be keeping a close eye on the development of COVID-19 and directives issued from the CDC and the Governor’s Office. County Officials are working closely with the Emergency Management team to take all necessary precautions.
Each Judge has made decisions regarding their respective court dockets. For the remainder of the month of March, no court will be held in the County Court or the County Court at Law. District Courts in Lamar County have a very limited schedule and all jury panels have been canceled in March. Parties should check with the Court or their attorney if they are not sure of their next Court date.
The County Clerk has adjusted to appointment only service. Please call the County Clerk at 903-737-2420 and they will be happy to assist the needs of the public.

The Tax Assessor/Collector (sometimes known as the Tag Office) will be open only through the drive-through beginning on Friday, March 20, 2020.
The County Treasurer/Indigent Health Care office is open. The County Treasurer asks that the public call 903-737-24218 to schedule an appointment or request an application by mail for the Indigent Health Care program.
The County Attorney/District Attorney Office will be by appointment only.
Jail visitation has been suspended in response to Governor Abbott’s mandate in response to the coronavirus.
Lamar County continues to provide essential public needs. As always, please keep first responders and Health Care providers in your prayers.
County Officials will continue to meet and discuss further necessary action in the coming days.
