  • Poll Workers - Trabajadores Electorales

    Election Judges are paid $12 an hour. Primary Elections have special rules. In-person training is provided in Comanche and is required! Los jueces electorales cobran 12 dólares la hora.     Student Election Clerks

    What are the Responsibilities of a Student Election Clerk?

     

    Working under the supervision of the judge, student election clerks may assist with the following duties:

    • Organizing the polling place before the polls open.
    • Ensuring that qualified voters are permitted to vote.
    • Checking in and processing voters.
    • Distributing ballots to registered voters.
    • Providing instructions and assistance to voters.
    • Answering voters’ questions.
    • Explaining the use of the voting equipment.
    • Maintaining order in the polling place on Election Day.
    • Obtaining results after the polls are closed and closing the polling place.

    What are the Required Qualifications of a Student Election Clerk?

    • Be at least 16 years old on Election Day;
    • Be enrolled in a public, private, or qualified home school;
    • Be a U.S. citizen;
    • Have consent of his/her parent or legal guardian to work the election;
    • Have consent of his/her school principal (or parent/legal guardian for home-schooled students); and
    • Complete training program.

    How to Apply

    • Fill out the Student Election Clerk Application and Permission Slip
    • Have your parent or guardian sign the Parent/Legal Guardian Permission portion.
    • Have your school principal sign the School Principal Authorization portion. Also, take the proper steps to ensure that your absence from school on Election Day will be excused.
    • Send the application to the elections administrator. Try to send application at least 60 days prior to Election Day (even though there is no statutory deadline).

    For Military/Overseas Voters: FPCA Application - Para votantes militares o en el extranjero: solicitud de FPCA

    Effective December 1, 2017 if an ABBM is faxed or emailed or if an FPCA is faxed, then the applicant must submit the ORIGINAL application BY MAIL to the early voting clerk so that it is received no later than the 4th business day after receiving the original ABBM or FPCA.

  • Voting Priority: A voter with a mobility problem that substantially impairs the voter’s ability to ambulate, and the voter agrees to be given voting order priority, the Election Officer will move you to the front of the line for check-in and voting. A Voting Priority sign is posted at the entrance to the voting place.

    Curbside Voting: Curbside Voting is available for voters who are physically unable to enter the polling place without personal assistance or likelihood of injuring the voter’s health. A designated reserved parking spot is marked with a Curbside Voting sign. A voter may call 325-356-4005, let us know which location you are ready to vote at, what type of car you are driving. We will let the Presiding Judge know you are waiting to vote curbside. 

    Assistant: A voter who is eligible to receive assistance is entitled to be assisted by a person of the voter’s choice or to be assisted by two election officers. 

    Interpreter: Voters who cannot speak English, or who communicate only with sign language, may use an interpreter of their choice to help them communicate with election officials. 

    Witness: If a voter is required to sign a document and cannot do so because of a physical disability or illiteracy, the document may be signed for the person by a witness. When a witness signs on behalf of a voter, the person who cannot sign must affix the person’s mark to the document, which the witness must attest to. If the person cannot make a mark, then the witness must state that fact on the document.

    Accessible Polling Place:  Comanche County Elections makes every effort to make sure each polling place and early voting location is accessible to and usable by the elderly and individuals with disabilities. Should you or someone you know encounter any location that is not accessible, please notify the Comanche County Elections Office immediately at 325-356-4005.

  • Military and Overseas Voters

    First and foremost, we would like to thank you, the military voters, for your service to our country.
    To all U.S. citizens overseas, thank you for your interest in your country’s elections while far away.

    (Federal voting law defines “overseas” as anywhere outside the United States. This includes Canada and Mexico.)

    Military and overseas voters are welcome to use the regular registration and early voting by mail process (also known as absentee voting) available to all voters away from their home county on Election Day.

    However, there are also special provisions for you.

    What is a Volunteer Deputy Registrar? 


    Volunteer Deputy Registrars (VDR) are entrusted with the responsibility of officially registering voters in the State of Texas. They are appointed by county voter registrars with helping increase voter registration in the state. They administer voter registration applications and take responsibility for making sure the citizen completes the application correctly so there is no delay in processing.

    Comanche County has adopted the Secretary of State Volunteer Deputy Registrar training. 

    Step 1: Review the SOS Online Training / Spanish Online Training
    Step 2: Contact the Comanche County Elections Office 325-356-4005 to schedule your exam (90% required) and/or appointment
    Step 3: Bring the completed application to the office with your ID
